Designing your life around fears,

“Do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”, I bet this quote sounds familiar to you. But what if doing what you love doesn’t pay the bills? Well, as you might know already .. I love reading. And the last couple of years I have been reading some dope ass books. One I can strongly recommend is: ‘The crossroads of should and must’, written by Ella.

Two paths in life

Ella claims that there are two paths in life: Should & Must. With ‘MUST’, Ella means doing the things you love or want. Following your passion, that inner voice, that unstoppable desire. The fun part of life is that we get to choose. You are able to make a choice. I want you to become aware of the most life-affirming thing you can do .. Which is to honor the voice inside that says you have something special to give.

Choose MUST,

and add ‘I WANT’ to your vocabulary as much as possible. Yes. Throw ‘I should’ away please, so that I should’ve will never be born. I can almost hear you thinking, HOW? Well, life can be quite simple: “If doing what you love doesn’t pay the bills, then you must find another way to make money. Being able to pay your bills can create a tempory mental space to find your calling”. I’ve said it a couple of times before, and I will keep pointing it out: “All roads lead to Rome”, there’s at least more than one. And a journey like this asks you to surrender to the unknown and find another road if the one before didn’t bring you any further towards your calling.

Surrender,

It’s scary, yes it is. And many of us turned themselves away from that place where nothing is guaranteed, nothing is known but where in fact everything is possible. Many of us have decided against following their intuition. Against following their dreams and desires. Many of us left doors closed that could’ve been opened towards unforseen worlds. When being scared, there is fear.

Courage is knowing what not to fear.

A mind troubled by doubt or fear, cannot focus on the course to victory. And victory in this situation is accomplishing. Ask yourself this question: Is there a voice inside of me that I haven’t honored yet? If the answer is yes, dig deeper. What is holding you back from persuading things?

What-are-you-afraid-of?

Also known as, the worst case (I repeat the worst case) scenario, ultimate doomsday concerns and the everyone-is-going-to-laugh-at-me scenario. Now let’s get realistic about these fears. Because often, fears in our mind can be sticky and very difficult to remove. Examine your fears. Is it worth designing your life around them? Get to know these fears intimately because they are the invisible walls that surround you on a daily basis.

So, IS it worth designing your lifearound them?

The most sustainable Musts don’t happen overnight. They happen slowly, thoughtfully, and quietly. They don’t happen impulsively but are built with a sober, calm intention.

Think of one action that you can take to honor your calling, TODAY?
